By: mattias lind https://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/glenn/building-a-desktop-workstation-for-sql-server-development-and-testing-august-2016/#comment-218777 Thu, 06 Oct 2016 09:11:17 +0000 http://3.209.169.194/blogs/glenn/?p=1104#comment-218777 I did pretty much like this, I went by two 1TB SSDs(and still having 4xSATA6, and 2xmSATA slots to add storage on), a beefed IC7 cpu, 32GBs of RAM(I do have another 4 slots, and in theory I can put in 8x32GBs modules giving me wooshing 256GBs of RAM), and a GTX1080 display adapter which set me back about $700USD… And still having additional PCIe slots for more stuff… Ending at appr $2000USD, but it works awesome… I could probably survive SQL labs with the onboard GPU, but if you also like gaming the $700USD Graphics adapter makes wonders…

What would you like to know about that processor? It is a two-year old, 6-core Haswell-E processor.
