{"id":474,"date":"2012-09-30T08:46:19","date_gmt":"2012-09-30T08:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"\/blogs\/joe\/post\/Recap-SQLSaturday-149.aspx"},"modified":"2013-12-29T19:19:02","modified_gmt":"2013-12-30T03:19:02","slug":"recap-sqlsaturday-149","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sqlskills.com\/blogs\/joe\/recap-sqlsaturday-149\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap: SQLSaturday #149"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday\u2019s SQLSaturday #149 (Minnesota) was most excellent.\u00a0 A few comments\/observations\/recaps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The event was extremely well organized and professional \u2013 while still managing to maintain a regional, relaxed atmosphere across 400+ attendees.\u00a0 The organizers did an absolutely incredible job and should be proud of themselves.\u00a0 There were several folks involved, and plenty of \u201corange shirts\u201d walking around helping people throughout the day.\u00a0 Hopefully they are all sleeping (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mnDBA\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Timmerman<\/a> in particular).<\/li>\n<li>Lots of great sessions to pick from, and as always, it was hard to choose.<\/li>\n<li>I got my first opportunity to present \u201cResolving Cardinality Estimate Issues\u201d and I also facilitated an informal \u201cLunch-on-a-Stick\u201d query tuning and indexing discussion, facilitated along with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/onpnt\" target=\"_blank\">Ted Krueger<\/a>.\u00a0 We were going to do separate sessions, but we were sharing the same room and it just seemed like a better idea to combine forces.\u00a0 It worked out well.<\/li>\n<li>I got a chance to meet a ton of new people and also folks I knew only in digital-form, but hadn\u2019t yet met in person.\u00a0 Lot\u2019s of familiar faces and old friends too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lastly, I just finished uploading my deck from my session yesterday, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sqlsaturday.com\/viewsession.aspx?sat=149&amp;sessionid=9006\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">Resolving Cardinality Estimate Issues<\/a>\u201d.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be expanding this out into a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pluralsight.com\/training\" target=\"_blank\">Pluralsight course<\/a> in the future \u2013 as there is plenty more to discuss and demonstrate, and 75 minutes is really just a start\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday\u2019s SQLSaturday #149 (Minnesota) was most excellent.\u00a0 A few comments\/observations\/recaps: The event was extremely well organized and professional \u2013 while still managing to maintain a regional, relaxed atmosphere across 400+ attendees.\u00a0 The organizers did an absolutely incredible job and should be proud of themselves.\u00a0 There were several folks involved, and plenty of \u201corange shirts\u201d walking [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[42,17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-474","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cardinality-estimation","category-community"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.9.1 -
