{"id":515,"date":"2011-12-11T11:58:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-11T11:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/blogs\/joe\/post\/Four-reasons-why-Ie28099m-looking-forward-to-SQLSaturday104.aspx"},"modified":"2013-01-20T10:04:56","modified_gmt":"2013-01-20T18:04:56","slug":"four-reasons-why-im-looking-forward-to-sqlsat104","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sqlskills.com\/blogs\/joe\/four-reasons-why-im-looking-forward-to-sqlsat104\/","title":{"rendered":"Four reasons why I\u2019m looking forward to #SQLSat104"},"content":{"rendered":"Next month I\u2019ll be attending and speaking at the Colorado Springs #SQLSat104.\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m looking forward to this event for a number of reasons:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n1.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>It\u2019s my very first SQLSaturday! \u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ve always wanted to attend \u2013 but neglected to do anything about it until now.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n2.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The day is packed with great session choices.\u00a0 <\/span>While I myself will be speaking at 2:30 PM, I want to catch as many sessions as I can both before and after.\u00a0 <\/span>This will force me to make some tough choices, but that\u2019s a good problem to have. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n3.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>I\u2019ll get a chance to present \u201cPerformance Issue Archetypes\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span>This is basically an ode to common performance themes that I\u2019ve seen over the last few years as a consultant and support engineer. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>And while I always try to lean heavily on data-driven methodologies and not get overly distracted by initial patterns and symptoms (beware red herrings) – there are <\/em>still various themes that I pay close attention to.
