Tech*Ed Conference Session, 75 minutes
Written/Presented by Kimberly L. Tripp, SQLskills.com
Designing tables to take advantage of system resources often means separating columns and/or rows to better support the requested queries. A design technique that can be used to do this is called partitioning. By learning both horizontal and vertical partitioning techniques applicable in SQL Server 2000 you will be better prepared to upgrade to the new Partitioned Table and Index features in Yukon. This session will cover preparation techniques to make sure you understand the basics behind migrating from a partitioned view strategy in SQL Server 2000 to the new partitioned table feature in SQL Server 2005.
