Immerse Yourself In SQL Server
What's New with SQLskills?
Today I've rearranged the site a little to make the info a bit more accessible. There's a new Interviews page and I've brought the Articles page up-to-date, including new articles in MSDN Magazine by Bob.

Kimberly and I are on Twitter (@PaulRandal and @KimberlyLTripp) and Facebook (search on Facebook for either nospam_paul@sqlskills.com or nospam_kimberlyltripp@hotmail.com, and remove the nospam_). Twitter is more about work, Facebook is more personal and less restrained (or at least that's the plan!).

The SQL PASS Workshops and Spotlight Sessions have been announced and Kimberly and I are both doing one of each. PASS is going to be excellent this year. Checkout the Upcoming Events page for more info.

The SQL Server 2008 Internals book is now available at Amazon.com!

My latest TechNet Magazine article on Understanding SQL Server Backups has been published - see here, and the latest installment of my SQL Q&A column has been published too - see here.

The folks at TechEd EMEA video'd my 80-minute Corruption Survival Techniques session - check it out here.

We're noticing an increased demand for custom, on-site training. We're currently booking Q1 FY10 onwards as this year is already pretty full. Send me email if you want to discuss DBA, BI, developer, or internals training on 2005 or 2008.

Thanks, Paul (June 6th 2009)

Special Events
SQL Immersion Events
After great reviews from our three SQL Immersion Events, be sure that SQLskills is planning more. In early 2009, we will announce our 2009 Immersion Event Calendar - there will be no Immersion Events in 2008, but we do have some public classes - see here. Immersion Events are unique and individually planned seminars and workshops, with content specifically created by database-related industry experts. The training materials are customized to provide deep coverage enabling attendees to master the content. These RARE, small and intense events are the place to be for high quality SQL Server training.

Subscribers will be the first to know - and the first to be offered special discounts and incentives. Classes are limited to 36 attendees and often event/site specific limitations exist and many courses have a maximum of only 20 to 24. Be sure to register early as these classes have sold out in the past. Subscribe now!
Announcements
Be sure to subscribe so you'll be among the first to hear about new classes. (And don't worry - we *rarely* send email. )

New classes and conference sessions
Kimberly and Paul will both be presenting at PASS in November. We're also about to announce public classes in Dublin (September) and Melbourne (October)
July 2009 TechNet Magazine Backups Article
The feature article on Understanding SQL Server Backups Paul wrote for the July issue of TechNet Magazine is live on the web. It also includes a screencast he recorded where he demos using tail-of-the-log backups for up-to-the-minute recovery. You can get to the article here.
May 2009 MSDN Magazine FILESTREAM article
Bob's latest article in his MSDN column "Under The Table" is in the May issue of MSDN. It this article he explores the internals of programming with the filestream feature of SQL Server 2008 and some best practices around when and how to use it. You can get to the article here.
