Description:

TBD

(Books Online description: “Waiting for log records to become available. Can occur either when waiting for new log records to be generated by connections or for I/O completion when reading log not in the cache. This is an expected wait if the log scan is caught up to the end of log or is reading from disk.”)

Extended Events wait_type value:

The map_key value in sys.dm_xe_map_values is 853 in 2012 and 872 in 2014 RTM. After 2014 RTM, you must check the DMV to get the latest value as some map_key values have changed in later builds.

Other information:

This wait type is one that I usually filter out as a benign wait when doing wait statistics analysis.
